Issue

When generating a change log invoice in Work 365, you may encounter the following error message:

? Error Message:
"One or more previous billing schedules have not been invoiced. Please generate invoice for earlier schedules and retry."

This error occurs when there are missing billing schedules on a billing contract, while active billable License Change Logs (LCLs) exist from those periods without corresponding billing schedules. The system cannot generate a new change log invoice until these discrepancies are resolved.

Resolution Steps

1. Assess the Status of License Change Logs (LCLs)

βœ… Determine whether the active LCLs from the affected periods need to be invoiced or if they can be archived.

2. If LCLs Need to Be Invoiced

Create Missing Billing Schedules

βœ… Manually create billing schedules for the missing periods.
βœ… Ensure accurate dates and set the schedules to Pending.

Generate the Change Log Invoice

βœ… Once the billing schedules are in place, manually generate the change log invoice for the relevant LCLs.

3. If LCLs Do Not Need to Be Invoiced

Archive Unnecessary LCLs

βœ… Manually archive LCLs that do not require invoicing.

Generate the Change Log Invoice

βœ… After archiving, manually generate the change log invoice as needed.

4. Bulk Editing License Change Logs

View Active LCLs

βœ… Navigate to the "Uninvoiced License Change Log" view.
βœ… Use the Advanced Find feature to filter LCLs based on specific criteria, such as effective dates and billable status.

Edit LCLs in Bulk

βœ… Select the relevant LCLs and use the bulk edit function to update their status to Archived or make other necessary changes.

Additional Considerations

Child Subscription LCLs

? Issue:

  • Active LCLs for child subscriptions under a parent subscription that has already been invoiced can cause this error.

? Workaround:

  • Manually archive these child subscription LCLs until a fix is applied.
